Alaska Federation of Music Clubs
Inspiring Musical Excellence Across Alaska’s Endless Horizons.
JOIN US!
We are the Alaska Federation of Music Clubs (AKFMC), Alaska’s first official state affiliate of the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC). As members of NFMC, we celebrate student achievement statewide through participation in the annual NFMC Gold Cup Festival and adjudication events.
Currently, our only organized local association is the Kenai Central Peninsula Music Teachers (KCPMT). Our membership includes studios in Nikiski, Soldotna, Seward, Unalaska, and one teacher in Anchorage — with hopes of continued growth in Anchorage and other communities across Alaska. Despite our name KCPMT, we have expanded past the Central Kenai Peninsula.
Our mission is to connect and support piano, voice, and instrumental teachers throughout the state. Through both in-person and virtual opportunities, we unite teachers and students from urban communities to rural and remote regions.
We foster student growth through workshops, festivals, adjudications, and other enriching educational experiences — all while promoting a comprehensive and well-rounded musical education.
We invite you to join us and become part of our growing musical community.
🎼 NFMC Festival Adjudication
AKFMC Festival program invites students to perform and receive constructive written feedback from adjudicators. This annual event fosters accountability and musical excellence. Some areas hold one festival per year, while others offer multiple to keep students motivated and engaged.
🏆 Gold Cups & Awards
Students earn participation ribbons and certificates each year and accumulate points through consistent festival participation. These points go toward earning Gold Cup trophies, a cherished and tangible symbol of long-term achievement and musical growth. It's a rewarding incentive for students and a powerful retention tool for teachers. The more cups you get the larger they get. Which in a way promote longevity because it takes 3 years minimum to earn a cup.
🎹 Workshops & Recitals
We offer workshops for both teachers and students, as well as recitals to showcase student growth. These events help strengthen performance skills, encourage peer learning, and build community across our geographically diverse and challenging state.
🇺🇸 Celebration of American Composers
We actively promote the study and performance of American composers as part of the National Federation’s mission, while also honoring influential foreign composers of every musical era. This balance helps shape a well-rounded and culturally aware musical education.
🤝 Networking & Mentorship
Join a welcoming network of dedicated teachers across Alaska. Our organization fosters connection, encouragement, and shared learning. Whether you’re a new teacher or a seasoned one, you’ll find support, ideas, and friendships that strengthen your work.
📈 Professional Growth & Teaching Resources
Your growth matters. We offer teacher-centered programming including workshops, idea exchanges, and access to curriculum resources that can benefit your own studio. We also welcome your input — your voice is heard and valued in this group, and we strive to make membership meaningful and worthwhile.
